Oklahoma Shines at the 2025 Best Buddies Leadership Conference
This summer, Oklahoma made a bold statement at the 2025 Best Buddies Leadership Conference (BBLC) in Bloomington, Indiana. With 11 passionate attendees representing our state, the energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to inclusion was impossible to miss.
Our delegation was composed of student leaders, advisors, and staff from across Oklahoma, and their impact was felt from the moment they arrived on campus. From early morning workshops to late-night chapter bonding, our participants dove headfirst into every opportunity to learn, lead, and grow. They returned home energized and ready to bring new ideas and initiatives back to their schools and communities.
We’re incredibly proud to share that four Oklahoma chapters were honored with Outstanding Chapter Awards—a testament to the powerful work happening across the state. The recipients included:
- Cedar Ridge Elementary – Union Public Schools
- Bixby Middle School – Bixby Public Schools
- Union High School – Union Public Schools
- University of Tulsa
These chapters were recognized not only for their consistent programming, but for the culture of belonging they’ve built within their schools. Their creativity, dedication, and leadership continue to set a high bar for inclusion.
At BBLC, our students participated in a wide range of sessions focused on advocacy, leadership development, and chapter growth. Whether they were brainstorming new Friendship Walk fundraisers, learning how to be better allies, or sharing their own personal stories, every session provided tools and inspiration to make an even greater impact back home.
More than anything, this year’s BBLC reminded us of what’s possible when young people believe in the power of friendship. As we look ahead to a new school year, we’re confident that the seeds planted in Indiana will grow into something extraordinary in Oklahoma.
Together, we are building a state where everyone belongs.
